Toured Japan with George Lewis as his string bass player.16

Placide started out in 1941 with his mother’s band, and paraded for many years with the Onward Brass Band, even after switching to bass. Played with the Papa Celestin Orchestra in the early -950s, and also worked with Barney

He toured Japan in the George Lewis Band, and was with Sweet Emma & Her New Orleans Music in 1963. In the 70s he led the Louis Cottrell Band, and he was a member of the Original Dixieland Hall Band which he led on a tour of Australia He also at one time led a group known as Placide Adams’ Dixieland Jazz Band.19
